Job Description

Overall Purpose of the Role

The Manager, HR & Crew Experience goal is to create an environment where our employees and crew are able to do their best work. This individual will work with the Director, HR & Crew Experience to provide proactive and commercially focused HR and Employee Relations support for our EMEA based Film and High-End TV Productions.

The role will play an active role in the day-to-day HR support for our Productions, as well as our Studio Corporate employees. With the global HR team, the Manager, HR & Crew Experience will build relationships and assist in managing the crew experience and wellbeing to ensure we become the Studio choice for crew.

This role will strongly focus on Employee Relations, and work closely with the Senior HR &Crew Advisor and the Burbank based Studio ER Director who will provide strategic direction, support, and development on ER practices and investigations.

In addition, this role will work with our HR and Studios partners to continue development and facilitation of crew experience initiatives to make us the Studio of choice for crew and help enhance an inclusive workplace.

Areas of Responsibility
• Work with the Director, HR & Crew Experience to support Productions to deliver against the TWDS HR and business strategy.
• Work closely with Studio ER to manage employee relations issues, conduct, complaints and end-to-end processes to include grievances, disciplinary, performance issues and dismissals. Work closely with the Senior HR Advisor and Studios ER on all ER cases.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders including Production, and Legal, escalating as necessary to ensure appropriate resolution.
• In partnership with Studio ER analyse ER trends, suggest and develop training sessions or learnings to improve the crew experience.
• In partnership with Studios ER help coordinate and run in-person compliance training sessions for cast and crew
• Work closely with the relevant stakeholder to develop and evolve the strategy for the attraction, retention, support and development for crew.
• Work with the Director, HR & Crew Experience and business leads to identify Production challenges and trends, leverage any metrics, and develop effective solutions.
• In partnership with the Manager, Talent Acquisition and Crew Development, support the trainee/apprenticeship schemes in the region to ensure we are setting our trainees up to succeed in the industry.
• Manage local implementation of the global crew survey including; partnering with Manager, Crew Development on communication with relevant stakeholders as well as analysing results for trends and opportunities to enhance the crew experience
• Support the UK based Studios employees with any queries and in partnership with US HRBP team, support on the annual HR processes of salary planning, talent planning, performance management and organisation change. Ensuring alignment in approach across the Studios team and Disney UK policies.
• Work closely with the US HRBP team to support the UK based Studios employees to on headcount management and work with the Studios team on position management.
• Partner closely with Unit Production Managers and Producers to ensure crew have a proactive and responsive contact point for HR queries and generalist advisory support, escalating as appropriate. • Participate in special projects with both the HRBP/ ER teams and client level to help in the development of our crew experience.
• Support the delivery of key HR initiatives led by Studio HR team and COEs, such as diversity and inclusion.
• Willingness to travel within Europe if/when required by Production need.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness in the communication, collation, and distribution of HR correspondence.
• Safeguard confidential and sensitive information.
• Be an active member of the HR and ER team community, building relationships across the teams, and supporting initiatives and projects as required.
• Apply commercial thinking and an understanding of the business and HR to provide pragmatic and informed HR solutions and ideas which meet both the business needs and fit with the HR agenda

Areas of Accountability
• Stakeholders: Studio stakeholders; Productions Offices, HR team, ER team and Studio HR CoE partners.
• There is no budgetary responsibility with this role.

Experience and Professional Qualifications Required
• Experience in client/customer facing HR support role.
• Evident experience of multi-national, fast-paced, progressive commercial organisations
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and people management skills
• Fast and effective relationship builder across all levels and geographies
• Experience of the Film/TV productions is desirable, but not essential.
• Demonstrable experience of grasping issues quickly, and delivering effective and efficient solutions
• Ability to adopt a consultant style approach to the role, partnering with senior managers, developing good relationships both within and external to the organisation.
• High level of personal credibility and ability to engage with the business and to exercise sound judgement.
• Well-organised and able to manage multiple projects/relationships. • Self-starter and able to work autonomously (requiring minimal supervision)
• Demonstrable track record of delivering value-adding HR solutions.
• Familiar with relevant HR-oriented technologies and computer literate (Experience of SAP & WorkDay is desirable)

Preferred but not Essential.
• Experience of working with marketing, media, and creative client groups or businesses
• Experience gained within a US multi-national or similar matrixed organisation.
• Experience working within the EU and the greater EMEA region would be highly advantageous.
• CIPD (or equivalent qualification) or working towards qualification.
