Associate Manager, Employee Relations (Project Hire)

The Disney Entertainment Television (DET) Employee Relations (ER) department is seeking an Associate Manager, Project Hire (PH) to join our team! Disney's ER function is responsible for engaging with employees and leaders at critical moments in the employee life cycle to ensure an equitable, inclusive, and respectful experience for all employees consistent with Disney's policies, values, and culture.

As the Associate Manager, Employee Relations (PH), you will contribute to DET's success by assisting with ER operations supporting Disney television productions. This role will support our clients with ER expertise and services, which may include conducting workplace investigations, supporting case intake and reporting, facilitating requests for accommodations and the interactive process, interpreting and influencing policies and practices, and managing other matters impacting the employee experience.  You will also be interface directly with Human Resources (HR), Labor Relations and Legal leadership across DET to ensure compliance with Company policy and federal and state laws.

Responsibilities
• Supports administration of the Production Employee Relations team by handling intake of incoming cases and case entry into the Company case management system.
• Conduct investigations, including leading witness interviews.
• Consult directly with business and responds to requests, working alongside the client and/or senior ER colleagues, to ensure all issues are resolved and escalated when necessary.
• Draft well-written ER investigation-related documents, including case summaries, written warnings, and talking points.
• Cultivate a strong rapport and collaborate with our internal partners to execute thorough investigations (e.g., HR Business Partners, Labor Relations, Legal, Global Security, Information Security, Management Audit, Communications, Diversity Equity & Inclusion, Production Health & Safety and others).
• Engage with ER team members across The Walt Disney Company to assist with advancing case work and other ER initiatives as needed/directed.
• Help promote knowledge, understanding, and compliance regarding Company policy and relevant employment laws to our productions.
• Handle project work as needed, including training, research, and other projects that support the business.

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 2+ years of Employee Relations experience OR relevant alternative work experience in Human Resources.
• Ability to assess sensitive and complex employee relations issues in a confidential, objective, and systematic manner.
• Strong consultative skills (client service orientation, conflict resolution, analysis/synthesis of information, negotiation, etc.) with proven track record of integrating partners to accomplish objectives.
• Highly collaborative, confident, and comfortable working with all levels of the organization, including executives and talent.
• Ability to juggle priorities and manage time effectively in a diverse, fast paced environment with moderate supervision.
• Ability to work independently and be part of a team environment while developing highly effective and valued professional relationships with peers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop in a HR/ER path.
• Must exhibit strong written and verbal/consultative skills.
• Proficient in Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Able to work west coast hours.
• Able to work out of our Burbank, CA office as needed.
• Willing to travel.

Required Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Additional Information
• This role will report to the Senior Manager, Employee Relations

The hiring range for this position in California is $106,900.00-$136,700.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
