Reporting to the General Counsel at Warner Bros. Discovery, the Head of Intellectual Property plays a critical role in the
development and formulation of the overall Intellectual Property global legal strategy for the organization. This position is
responsible for the management of the evaluation process for proposed names and marks for trademark use by the various
companywide business units (e.g., Consumer Products, Animation, Telepictures, Home Entertainment), including the oversight for analysis of searches and opinions as to availability and risk. The role will provide executive level leadership and lead a global team of dedicated IP attorneys and legal professionals.

Responsibilities
• Lead and manage all aspects of the Intellectual Property legal group for all operating units, both domestically and
internationally
• Oversee all legal matters pertaining to intellectual property strategy and management for the organization.
• Oversee the negotiation and completion of agreements, confidential disclosures, material transfer, licensing agreements
and other intellectual property related matters.
• Ensure the organization is in compliance with the legal and regulatory requirement of the country-(ies) in which it
operates.
• Provide advice and counsel on a broad range of legal issues to the operating executives and management who support
the Intellectual Property function.
• Design, develop and implement legal policies and programs required to file and maintain patents, trademarks, copyrights,
and registered designs that protect the organization's products and patentable items.
• Serve as a key advisor to the business and partner with various functions throughout the company to identify
opportunities to protect intellectual property and to provide patentability, freedom-to-operate, and other legal opinions and
risk assessments.
• Ensure the organization's intellectual property are protected and do not infringe on the patents of others, including:
Structuring/negotiating patent licenses and intellectual property agreements (e.g., copyrights, trademarks, database
rights, design rights, domain names, etc.).
• Supervise and/or partner with outside counsel on the application for, and the enforcement, or defense of, intellectual
property and patent rights, through domestic and international litigation.

Qualifications
• The successful candidate has at least 15 years of relevant experience protecting and enforcing intellectual property
rights.
• Experience as in-house counsel and/or within entertainment industry preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; and ability to influence to collaborate effectively are essential
• Ability to conceptualize and articulate practical and creative solutions to meet business needs and legal requirements
• Ability to lead and develop strong, strategic team of attorneys and legal professionals
• Ability to spot and analyze complex issues and devise practical strategies and solutions
• Knowledge of law and the legal environment of the entertainment industry sufficient to prepare legal documents,
represent the Company in legal proceedings, and advise Company management
• Experience overseeing trademark portfolio management and content security strategy
• Experience applying a patent strategy within an organization, preferably from an in-house position
• Extensive experience counseling senior executives at the highest level and has a proven ability to become a trusted
advisor to them regarding IP issues
• Must be able to prepare, negotiate, and interpret agreements and other legal documents
• Must be able to research legal questions and be able to clearly articulate and visually present complex legal advice

Education: An undergraduate degree is required; a J.D. degree from an accredited law school is required, plus admission to the bar in one state is required; Bar membership must be in good standing

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York City. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $310,000 -$575,000 salary per year.
Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
