Paralegal (4 months contract)
Overview
Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific is searching for a Paralegal (4-month Maternity Cover - Dec 2021 to Apr 2022) to join our Singapore team . You will be involved in broad-spectrum paralegal work involving: proof reading and reviewing documents; legal support to the team with particular focus on drafting and reviewing template contracts; providing general corporate secretarial support; managing compliance and liaising with internal clients.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
• Providing general support to the legal division, including drafting and reviewing template contracts such as freelancer contracts, advertising sales agreements, standard agent agreements, event services agreements, barter agreements, non-disclosure agreements, contest terms and conditions, research contracts, board resolutions and power of attorneys, tenancy renewals and service contracts e.g aircon, pest control etc)
• Managing due diligence documentation and work flow, including fee estimates, engaging investigation firms, and reference checks on vendors and third party representatives
• Liaising with US on all systems, procedures, and requests regarding compliance
• Managing internal and external document flow and signatures, including approvals, contracts, hard copy files (as necessary) and storage (originals sometimes required in litigation)
• Managing cloud storage of all legal matters, including uploading and storage of all signed contracts and contract approval documents
• Managing corporate secretarial matters, including notarization / legalization of company documents, liaison with US corporate team, local corporate secretary, and document flow
• Preparing, and managing, regulatory documents/forms for all markets
• Completing review of contest T&Cs and minor agreements - highlighting any points for legal review
• Liaising with billing team on authorization of invoices, approval of monthly billing reports and payment issues that arise
• Arranging approval and payment of invoices (for example, due diligence reports)
• Additional point of contact/source of information on legal and business matters/procedures
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including administrative such as copying, printing and scanning documents
Qualifications

• High degree of confidentiality
• 2 to 6 years' experience as a Paralegal in a law firm, or in-house Legal department (ideally in media industry but not essential)
• Diploma in law preferred, but not essential if candidate has the relevant experience
• Possible consideration to law graduates with minimal experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook essential
