The Role
The Director of Executive Compensation reports to the VP of Compensation and will partner with Discovery's People & Culture leadership team to lead our executive compensation programs and prepare materials for Discovery's Compensation Committee review and approval. A successful candidate for this position should be able to balance competing priorities, have strong analytical and technical skills, and have collaborative, customer centric interpersonal skills to deliver thoughtful recommendations and solutions. A candidate for this role should be detail oriented to ensure accuracy, but also have the ability and business acumen to adjust presentations and recommendations to a level suitable for the targeted audience.
Responsibilities
• Lead the planning and preparation of materials for the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors (6+ Annually)
-Partner with Finance, Legal, external consultants and other stakeholders to develop materials and drive accurate and timely reviews.
-Manage the flow and cadence of materials to be reviewed and approved in accordance with deadlines in conducting market assessments and quality checking materials prior to Leadership review.
• Review, analyze and enhance existing executive compensation programs to ensure competitiveness.
• Collaborate closely with the Equity Administration and Finance teams to deliver a market competitive equity program, understanding and communicating the cost implications of any proposed program changes.
• In partnership with the Global Compensation COE, conduct and/or participate in market research and compensation surveys to evaluate and report on Executive Compensation market trends and competitiveness.
• Works with the Executive Compensation Legal team in the preparation of the annual CD&A section of the proxy statement. Prepare data, proforma tables, disclosures and reporting in the summary compensation tables of the CD&A
• Responsible for supporting Discovery's People & Culture Partners on job evaluations and compensation recommendations for all executives reviewed by the Compensation Committee as well as other select executives.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in executive compensation
• 7+ years of experience with broad-based compensation programs
• Strong consultation skills and the ability to seek out information and provide quality advice
• Ability to manage ambiguity and changing priorities in a fast-paced environmentHighly detail driven with emphasis on accuracy, coupled with an ability to see the broader picture
• Expert in formatting and presenting compensation data, conclusions and proposals, to executives and Compensation Committees.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
• Experience advising and presenting to the senior HR and Legal leadership of a public company around Executive Compensation programs.
• Prior experience with Successfactors is a plus
• Possesses a well established foundation in compensation theories and practices.
• Must have a can-do attitude, the ability to prioritize workload and perform multiple tasks under accelerated deadlines
• Knowledgeable on legislation affecting pay programs.
• Maintains awareness of economic and pay practice trends within industry.
• Self-starter and able to work well and communicate effectively in a team environment
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States
