Film/TV Business Affairs and Legal Delivery Consultant (Remote)

The Position

Our company is a provider of legal delivery review and business affairs services for high profile distributors, networks, sales agents, financiers and production companies around the world. We are seeking an experienced legal delivery consultant to join our team. The consultant will track, review and organize a high volume of legal and production documents on feature films, TV series, and short films. This is an early/mid career position.

What you’ll be doing

· Emailing with licensors and producers throughout the entire delivery process

· Organizing voluminous amounts of files per project

· Tracking progress, files and deadlines for hundreds of projects at a time via internal and client tracking grids and systems. This job will start out with a lot of information management.

· Reviewing legal delivery documents for film sales and distribution

· Coordinating between clients, prospective clients, 3rd party vendors and in-house contractors to keep everyone informed and on track

· Updating existing company training manuals and procedures

· Coordinating phone calls and meetings

Requirements

· Must have either a JD or paralegal certification. CA Bar certification is a plus.

· Must have at least 2 years experience in legal delivery review in the film/television industry and at least 3-5 years experience in a law firm or in house legal department of a studio, distributor, or sales company.

· Strong experience in chain of title, production documents, and music license review

· A working knowledge of the film/television production, sales and distribution industry

· Experience tracking rights in distribution and sales contracts

· Ability to efficiently work a high volume for tasks, prioritizing them, and scheduling out work for others

· Must be organized

· Be a good teacher

· Must be an expert at following detailed directions

· A proactive problem solver. Not someone who just follows a checklist. Someone who analyzes the situation and comes up with the best options when there is not a clear best answer.

· Mandatory: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs), Dropbox, Box, Adobe.

· Plus: Asana, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Airtable

· For applicants based in CA (or jurisdictions with similar independent contractor laws) you must have, or form before engagement, a loan out company as an LLC or Corporation. No exceptions.

· Must be discrete and able to safeguard confidential information and files

· Consistency- we’re very flexible with time but need regular production

· Responsibility- Making final legal analysis decisions that trigger payments totalling up to 9 figures annually

· Ability to prioritize work amongst a high volume workload

· Strong organization skills

· Detail oriented and analytical skills

· Ability to learn fast and take detailed notes to reference

· Patience - at times you will be dealing with new filmmakers

· Must be discrete and able to safeguard confidential information and files

· You are passionate about a long term career in film/TV legal business affairs and not another career.

· Plus: Familiarity with guild and union regulations (SAG-AFTRA, DGA and WGA).
