Job Description
CNN is seeking a Senior Producer to join our Explainers team, creating visually compelling and deeply reported videos that help audiences understand the news and the world around them. This role is ideal for a creative storyteller with a strong editorial vision, exceptional writing and producing skills, and a proven ability to manage projects from concept to publication.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Oversee the editorial planning production, and execution of explainer videos across topics like politics, global affairs, science, technology, and culture.
• Lead and mentor producers throughout the storytelling process-from pitch to final delivery-elevating scripts, edits, and visual storytelling.
• Guide collaboration with reporters, editors, designers, and motion graphics teams to produce impactful, visually rich explainers.
• Shape the editorial voice and visual approach of explainers, ensuring clarity, accuracy and audience engagement across platforms.
• Balance multiple projects and deadlines while aligning with broader strategic goals.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
• Provide coaching and feedback to junior staff, fostering growth in story development, scripting, and production techniques.
• Use audience insights and performance data to inform content strategy and optimize engagement and reach.
• Champion innovation, exploring emerging storytelling techniques, tools, and trends to keep CNN's explainers ahead of the competition

Qualifications & Experience…
• 8+ years of experience in digital video journalism in a newsroom environment.
• Demonstrated success in creating high-performing explainer videos or visually driven journalism (examples required).
• Strong editorial judgment and news instincts, with an ability to explain complex topics with accuracy and creativity.
• Exceptional writing, scripting, and editing skills with a focus on clarity and narrative structure.
• Hands-on experience producing, directing, and overseeing video shoots and post-production workflows.
• Proficiency in digital video tools (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, or similar) and familiarity with motion graphics and data visualization.
• Strong organizational skills and experience leading projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for innovation in visual journalism and a deep understanding of CNN's brand and audience.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $58,450.00 - $108,550.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
