Senior News Reporter (Jerusalem based)

We're looking for an exceptional journalist with excellent contacts in the Israeli political and security sphere to take on this crucial role in CNN's Jerusalem bureau, reporting to the Jerusalem Bureau Chief as part of an editorial team at the forefront of CNN's international multiplatform storytelling.

You'll have a track record of generating exclusive stories, and the ability to write vividly and engagingly on complex and sensitive topics for an international audience. This is a new role within an integrated newsgathering department, and you will be equally at ease explaining stories in video format as the written word. Key to the success of this role will be effective collaboration as part of the bureau, the news editorial team as well as a wide array of teams across the business, including CNN's hubs and international field teams.

Your Role Accountabilities…
• Report, research, write, verify, and own all stages of assigned stories from brief initial network alerts to fully formed published stories and everything in between.
• Generate exclusives and identify distinctive angles on key storylines to provide high-impact coverage.
• Contribute to digital coverage across platforms, including video and on camera.
• Shape complex stories and generate distinctive output that may include enterprise and investigatory work.
• Partner with teams across our hubs and in the field to bring their material to a publish-able or broadcast-able form.
• Generate explanatory work that helps audiences understand the news.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency in pursuing breaking news stories and delivering updates in real-time.
• Use strong editorial judgment and expert knowledge to frame our output quickly and effectively for maximum impact across all our platforms.
• Contribute varied story ideas and story follow-up ideas.
• Monitor the competitive landscape and multiple sources for news developments.
• Partner with our editorial oversight teams, standards and practices teams and legal teams to ensure all content is legally compliant and meets CNN's editorial standards.
• Work closely with the Jerusalem Bureau team and other reporters, photojournalists, producers, visual editors and programmers, to coordinate coverage, share resources, and support each other in delivering comprehensive news coverage.
• May be deployed on field assignments to enhance breaking news coverage or to pursue distinctive storylines.
• Mentor other team members, helping to foster a collaborative newsroom culture.

Qualifications & Experience…
• You will be a seasoned and well-sourced journalist with a proven editorial track record in Israel.
• Have a real editorial drive with proven expertise and knowledge of the regional news agenda.
• A track record for creativity and innovation in writing and producing across multiple platforms.
• Ability to balance competing priorities and execute against tight deadlines.
• Exposure to working across different time zones and have a strong understanding of different cultures and sensitivities.
• Flexibility and open mindfulness to operate in a fast-changing and exciting news environment.
• A real want to make an impact to make CNN innovative and distinctive track record of collaborating in a deadline-driven news environment.
• Hebrew an advantage but not essential.
• Broadcast or digital video experience desirable but not essential.

Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
