The Job
The National Content Center is looking for an experienced journalist with strong news gathering abilities and leadership skills. The News Editor should be a collaborative, team player who can clearly and succinctly distill news and disseminate information across various news platforms.

The Daily
• You'll be responsible for driving editorial that sets CNN apart from our competition
• The senior editor should be able to generate and develop stories that meet CNN's journalistic standards and newsgather via both traditional methods and social media, guiding the story through from conception to completion, including working through partners on the Row, in Standards, Legal and Rights and Clearances.
• This news editor staffer must have strong writing skills to develop content for both internal consumption and external publishing on all CNN platforms
• Foster relationships and communicate with platform partners, field personnel and managers to keeping them informed of developing story opportunities, breaking news and other changes
• Responsible for continuing to drive our coverage both on-air and online therefore must have a strong understanding of social media, vetting third party material and utilizing these and other social and digital resources in delivering the news to our viewers/readers
• Develops and maintains own sources
• Leads team to meet editorial goals and deadlines, continually focused on improvement of newsgathering and cross-departmental processes

The Essentials
• 8 years' experience in news environment at a major network/local station
• Strong writing and research skills, proven editorial judgment
• Able to problem solve while working under pressure
• Previous Assignment Editor experience preferred
• Newsgathering experience in traditional and digital/social
• Undergraduate degree in journalism/related field or commensurate experience is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
