Your new CNN role:
CNN is seeking an experienced senior editor to join its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong to take a leading role in helping to shape the world's biggest and most important stories – with a strong focus on US domestic news.

This is a role for an ambitious and capable editor with outstanding news judgment, excellent communication skills, and a passion for breaking news and distinctive features.
Working as part of a diverse, highly-collaborative team of digital-first editors and reporters, the senior editor will serve as a vital bridge in CNN's follow-the-sun operation to ensure consistent, multiplatform coverage around the clock.
You'll have proven high-level editing skills and the ability to distill complex ideas, bringing a deep understanding of US and international affairs, as well as an eye for emerging trends.
This is a newsroom leadership role that requires calm under pressure. As Senior News Editor you will help steer the overnight US news agenda during major breaking news – from civil unrest to natural disasters – responding in real-time to unexpected developments and making decisive editorial decisions.
You will have a broad portfolio and will be expected to move between reactive and proactive depending on the situation; executing detailed coverage plans; commissioning, editing, framing, and writing editorial content for all of CNN's platforms; ensuring all journalism produced adheres to CNN standards and integrity; and communicating across teams on multi-region news and investigative projects.
Though the role is located in Asia-Pacific, you will be working as part of a global, 24/7 digital-first cross-platform leadership team, providing a key overnight editorial link in CNN's US coverage, and will be comfortable moving between national and international news priorities.
Qualifications & Experience:
• A minimum of 8 years of editing experience for leading digital-first outlets
• A proven track record of editing major breaking news; superior news judgement; and the ability to deliver in a highly pressurized, deadline driven environment
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills
• The ability to deftly coordinate daily news assignments and the flow of information to deliver smart, accessible stories across platforms
• Able to think in headlines and smart framings, while considering the intended audience
• Heightened ability to identify news as it breaks – be it through sources, Dataminr, news wires, etc – and pivot accordingly
• Experience in managing others, setting editorial priorities and coordinating between teams and across time zones
• A passion for news; and a deep knowledge of US national affairs preferred
• College degree or equivalent industry experience
• Perfect grasp of written and spoken English
• Enthusiasm, flexibility and a desire to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment
