Your New Role...

Warner Bros. Discovery seeks a Senior Director for the CNN Communications team.

Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, this role will lead a newsgathering PR team in Washington, DC focused on CNN's breaking news coverage including politics, national security, investigative reporting, special events and more. They will be part of a newly formed unit designed to ensure CNN's global and groundbreaking news coverage is seen and cited across platforms around the world.

Your Role Accountabilities...
• Develop a newsgathering PR team, a 24-7 team dedicated to promoting the work of correspondents and reporters across CNN Domestic, based out of Washington, DC
• Create multi-layered PR plans that include promoting breaking news and scoops, promoting the individual correspondents and reporters, as well as their units, all laddering up to CNN's brand story
• Manage communications and credentialing around CNN's Special Events unit, including debates and town hall programs
• Consult on earned media opportunities and brand-level features
• Advise and engage in crisis and strategic response related to work out of Washington, DC
• Manage complex and unexpected communications challenges with professionalism
• Oversee management and talent development of the team
• Work with VP of Public Relations on talking points, prepare documents and prep sessions for executives
• Develop and consult on department functions and processes

Qualifications & Experience...
• The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of Corporate Communications experience and familiarity with newsroom and broadcast journalism
• Strategic, hands-on, consultative, and collaborative approach
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
• Strong presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience
