The Job

The researcher will need to be a CNN content expert and will be responsible for completing in a timely fashion research requests made by Sales Staff. As well, these resident content experts will be involved in website redevelopment and new product offerings.

The Daily
• As a recognized expert on CNN news archive content, CNN's history and CNN's archival systems, provides deadline-driven research to pinpoint video content to meet CNN Collection clients' needs.
• Provide the most timely, authenticated and accurate research results.
• Prioritizes all incoming requests and uses editorial and rights judgment when researching requests.
• Familiar with Lexis Nexis, Vanderbilt and other client driven content sources.
• Review content and partner with bureaus on occasion to bring in footage.
• Fields questions and helps resolve problems while interacting directly with clients, account executives and video editors.
• Consults with other departments when appropriate.
• Uses knowledge of video rights usage and CNN source documentation processes and resources to help source video or direct account executives to the appropriate department such as Legal or Rights & Clearances.
• Works with Library asset management group, Legal, Rights & Clearances, the Row, Standards & Practices to see that accurate rights information is added to the permanent archives, or corrected when needed.
• Reviews existing metadata for accuracy and completeness, and enhances or corrects as appropriate following established Library policy and guidance
• Collaboration with Collection staff on creation of clip reels and additional future product offerings, such as royalty-free.
• QCs asset destined for external CNN Collection website, ensuring accuracy of metadata and sourcing, and compliance with editorial policies for populating the site.
• Also provides ''seed'' assets for the website whenever desirable or potentially salable video is recognized during the research process
• Other duties as assigned.

The Essentials
• Minimum of 2 years knowledge and/or experience in a library/catalogue/archive environment.
• Strong MAC & PC computer base skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with solid research capabilities.
• Familiarity and understanding of broadcast/cable news and editorial news footage a plus.
• Experience in the licensing business.
• Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
