Job Description
Your New Role…

We are the department that produces the network's biggest editorial events as well as many smaller ones. From debates, town halls, and election nights, to overseas Presidential trips, funerals, and the royal wedding, we've produced them all. Don't be fooled, however; before all the pomp and circumstance viewers see on TV, we are the planners, the location scouts, the production & logistics experts, the carpet vacuum-ers, the list makers, the transportation schedulers and then we help execute the coverage on site.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, whose attention to detail is beyond the norm, who thrives in a team environment and wants to do the not-so-glamourous daily work.

This producer will primarily be responsible for multicamera field interviews taking the lead role on site as the primary contact for the editorial and production teams during planning, setup and delivery of live events. The producer will also serve as a liaison for key production sites in the DC area as well as managing assignments on behalf of the Network TV Pool. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the company infrastructure and also a keen interest in applying new technologies in different and innovative ways to improve our daily workflows. This role will also be involved in larger network wide Special Events.

Your Role Accountabilities…
• The daily schedule for a Special Events is hard to define because the job changes constantly – you must be flexible with your schedule including working late nights and weekends.
• Working in the field responsible for leading the team, balancing requests, scheduling and managing on site crew as well as editorial requests.
• Develop relationships with key Washington locations including ownership of a database of interview locations
• Working knowledge of the U. S. Network Pool. Understand coverage responsibilities, logistics, production & budgets.
• Working on Special Events could include - live shot coordination and feeds coordination, field producing on larger events, logistics and management of political events like town halls or debates.
• Working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, Mediasource, Mira, iNews, SharePoint, TEAMS, and Xytech.
• Breaking News participation when required both on the newsgathering desks or in control rooms as well as anything SpEv may need done.
• Become knowledgeable about credential requirements, database, and White House forms.

Qualifications & Experience…
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or related discipline or equivalent in experience.
• Minimum of five years of experience in network television or major-market news production.  Field production, newsroom & live control room experience preferred.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be able to multitask; Highly organized and must pay attention to detail - The person thinks broadly – sees the ''big picture'' – but also focuses on the little pictures (aka the not-so-fun details that are painfully tedious but absolutely necessary – example, spelling someone's name properly to check into a hotel or completing a credential form with the correct details)
• Ability to work with various units across the network with many different contributions to events. Production, editorial, technical and logistics.
• Ability to have flexible work schedules – including nights and weekends -- for a constantly changing news environment.
• Strong news judgment, critical and strategic thinking, organization skills, and an ability to be persistent yet diplomatic.
• Understanding of newsgathering and social media; top notch research skills
• Builds and maintains collaborative relationships; values the diversity of people, programming, and perspectives
• Must be available to travel and willing to work overnights, weekends, & holidays
