Your New Role...
The News Desk OSINT Researcher is a tenacious data journalist who will work closely with senior editors and reporters to uncover fresh new stories, break news and track high-profile editorial threads for some of the network's most critical reporting. The News Desk OSINT Researcher is adept at open-source intelligence newsgathering and is constantly looking for ways to push CNN's reporting to the next level.
Your Role Accountabilities:
• Organized, meticulous, tenacious and able to forensically dig through extensive documents to find investigative threads.
• Ability to multi-task and work on both short-term and long-term projects with reporters and desk/digital editors and under tight deadlines during breaking news
• Experience with open-source research techniques such as geo and chronolocations, satellite imagery analysis, flight and ship-tracking, Google Earth.
• Skills to build timeline and map of events during breaking news and investigations.
• Must be willing to assist the news desk in obtaining and clearing video to enhance our storytelling across all platforms.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, according to news demands including nights, holidays and weekends.
Qualifications and experience:
• Ability and experience with a range of open-source techniques.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Collaborative, with excellent communication skills
• Technically adept
• Knowledge of second language is a plus
