The Job

CNN Video Ops team is looking for a Manager, Quality Control (QC). The Manager, QC is responsible for screening and verifying the quality of all incoming video assets for CNN + to ensure all technical and editorial specifications are met. Quality Control will encompass an automated QC workflow (Baton) in combination with human-driven QC. The Manager, QC should be capable of building and operating automated QC workflows, in addition to having an eye for detail and the ability to collaborate with other team members.

The Daily
• Oversee the correct and timely delivery of assets to specs and contract. The candidate will lead QC coordinators, be the POC and escalation point for issues, delays, and priority management within the CNN Plus QC pipeline.
• You will design and implement the correct QC process and pass/fail criteria of each content and each format.
• Lead the operation in order to perform industry-standard state of the art QC process for HD, 2k, 4k content, IMF (SDR and HDR) and DCDM, rejecting content when necessary and discussing technical parameters with production houses and postproduction teams
• Periodically re-evaluate resource allocation, be able to adapt processes to fit new needs, be up to date in software tools and industry quality standards
• Be able to lean on metrics and process to create and maintain a stable and efficient QC pipeline.

The Essentials
• Experience and knowledge in audiovisual standards like UHD, IMF files, DCDM, SDR, HDR
• Experience in Postproduction for at least 3 years
• Experience in Audio/Visual Quality control experience for at least 2 years
• Experience in Media Management / Coordination for at least 2 years
• Experience managing a team of operators as a supervisor for 2 years
• Experience with Interra Systems, Baton QC product a plus
• Degree or equivalent experience in video/post-production
• Deep understanding of media files, including, industry standard formats, codecs, wrappers, etc.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize long-term projects and day-to-day needs.
• Experience in other roles in media (graphics, studios, production)
• Experience in leading cross functional projects
