Job Description
The Digital Copy Editor ensures accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all CNNE en Español digital platforms. This role safeguards journalistic integrity while enhancing stories for website and social media audiences. The digital copy editor works closely with web editors, reporters, writers, and digital producers to refine content that is timely, engaging, and impactful.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Translate and adapt stories from English to Spanish, tailoring them for digital Spanish-speaking audiences while preserving accuracy and nuance.
• Edit digital stories, headlines, captions, push alerts, newsletters, and social copy for accuracy, grammar, tone, style, and context.
• Write and rewrite articles and digital packages to ensure clarity, cohesion, and strong storytelling.
• Ensure all copy adheres to CNN editorial standards and digital best practices.
• Optimize text for SEO, readability, and mobile-first consumption.
• Collaborate with digital teams to update evolving stories quickly and accurately.
• Contribute to experimentation with innovative digital formats such as explainers, live blogs, and interactives.
Qualifications & Experience…
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Fully bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to translate, edit, and write natively in Spanish.
• 5+ years of professional digital news writing or editing experience in Spanish, with a proven ability to handle breaking news under deadline pressure.
• Deep understanding of Latin America, US Hispanic, and global news issues.
• Background in online journalism, digital publishing, or wire services required.
• Expertise in digital editing tools, content management systems, and analytics dashboards.
• Demonstrated editing skills with focus on accuracy, balance, sensitivity, and style.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities in fast-paced, breaking news environments.
• Collaborative, positive, and adaptable team player.
