The Job

The CNN Newsource Coordinating Producer covers New York, Northeast regional and breaking national news on behalf of CNN's affiliates. The Coordinating Producer works with the Newsource New York Correspondent to cultivate diverse news and special interest broadcast and digital content for CNN's affiliates. The position requires strong editorial, writing, logistics and technical abilities to meet the obligation of producing and delivering promised content and live services. The ability to travel regionally and nationally on short notice, 24/7, is a critical function of the position. This role works in concert with the New York, Washington and Atlanta newsgathering teams to respond to news and deliver content to CNN's affiliates.

The Daily
• Provide daily content to CNN affiliates.
• Partner with assignment editors and editorial leaders on daily newsgathering needs, as needed, in NY/Northeast, but also nationally, as required.
• Leverage internal production tools to secure and maximize support for production initiatives.
• Secure production resources on behalf of CNN affiliates is paramount, as is having a command of available CNN production assets.
• A command of field production processes and techniques is vital to the operational success of Newsource newsgathering.
• Provide editorial and technical support during live reports on location at breaking news settings or planned events.
• Comfortable handling multiple tasks to support talent, newsgathering colleagues and CNN affiliates in the field.
• Ability to be dispatched on short notice to cover breaking news.
• Write and produce news and/or special interest content for affiliates and ensures stories meet all Legal, Rights and Standards guidelines of CNN. Guides packages through all proper vetting required for CNN produced packages.
• Collaborate with technical directors, affiliate control rooms and field crews to coordinate live shots and supporting content product.
• Respond quickly to breaking news stories to support the overall Newsource service.
• Cultivate relevant content in NY/NE region for affiliate partners.
• Dispatch and work independently to shoot elements for newgathering demands.
• Support Newsource Digital product services by pitching/creating original digital pieces, enhancing still image coverage, as well as daily communication with Digital clients.

The Essentials
• At least five years experience in newsroom production, field production techniques, field content acquisition, package production, control room, newscast production, or similar
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Impeccable news judgment and knowledge
• Package and elements production for on-air reporting
• Excellent script writing skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Highly organized, able to multi-task
