Job Description

CNBC Select is looking to hire a talented Personal Finance Reporter who will have a focus on SEO content. CNBC Select is a fast-growing, consumer-friendly commerce brand within the NBCU News Group. The team is devoted to providing readers with rigorous reviews and personal finance advice so they can make informed decisions about the financial products they use every day.

The Personal Finance Reporter, SEO will be primarily responsible for analyzing and reviewing financial products – through developing expertise, research and reporting – to provide readers with advice on the best credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, insurance and other financial products on the market. You'll work with editors and the SEO team to conceptualize story ideas, write new articles and update evergreen content based on daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal search trends.

Additionally, the Personal Finance Reporter, SEO will be asked to pitch and create engaging content that inspires the curious reader. The ideal candidate will have strong reporting skills, experience putting together ''best of'' lists using methodologies, comfort with numbers and data as well as words, experience with SEO research and best practices and a knack for making complex subjects interesting and relatable.

What you'll do:
• Pitch, report and write SEO-friendly, evergreen articles and other digital content
• Research and assemble reliable, informative lists of financial product recommendations
• Collaborate with SEO team to translate SEO research and guidance into accurate, informative and accessible content.
• Optimize new articles based on SEO recommendations, trends and analytics
• Update and optimize existing articles based on new reporting and research, SEO recommendations, trends and other analytics.
• Help grow the CNBC Select brand and cultivate an engaged audience
• Contribute to multi-platform coverage when needed

Qualifications
• At least 2 years of professional experience as a writer and/or reporter
• At least 2 years of experience with SEO in an editorial environment
• Demonstrated commerce experience
• Familiarity with SEO tools like Semrush, Ahrefs and Google Trends
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in the personal finance space
• Proven ability to report and write accurately and clearly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven news environment
• Familiarity with following and reporting on current events, especially as they relate to personal finance, credit cards, loans, banking, mortgages, insurance, and other financial products
• Familiarity and comfort with evolving SEO best practices
• Familiarity and comfort with social media
• Ability to convey to readers why and how high-level or abstract stories could affect them personally

Desired Characteristics:
• Firm grasp of AP Style
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
• Experience at a large online content destination, such as a major online news site or financial newspaper
• Passion for digital storytelling and creating the best user experience online
• Ongoing knowledge of and interest in the business world and financial news

Additional Requirements:
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
• Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
