Responsibilities
OVERVIEW
The Correspondent will be responsible for pitching and creating actionable, concise articles to advise and inform the PRO audience of active traders and investors. The ideal candidate will have strong reporting and research skills, mathematics proficiency, an understanding of markets, and a knack for making complex subjects interesting, pointed and relatable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Pitch and write multiple digital articles a day that will:
• inform an audience of active investors who are CNBC Pro subscribers
• entice active investors who are not CNBC Pro subscribers to become CNBC Pro subscribers.
• Responsively carry out instructions of the Supervising Markets Editor who oversees CNBC International's Pro offering from London.
• Take ownership of reading and responding to analyst notes; develop contacts within investment banks and research houses to enhance our access to information relevant to the Pro audience.
• Help to build the CNBC Pro brand by pitching new and innovative ways of appealing to the audience.
• Use data providers such as Eikon and FactSet to create data-driven Pro stories that are proprietary to CNBC.
• Package copy using graphics, charts, videos and appropriate links to make it compelling to readers.
• Collaborate with the CNBC TV, Digital Video & Social Media teams as requested to help generate informative and engaging Pro Talk live events, social content and videos.
• Collaborate with international Pro colleagues, the digital teams more broadly and the TV teams on story ideas and to promote finished content.
Qualifications
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
• A command of financial markets, especially but not limited to stock markets, and an interest in investing and trading.
• Demonstrated experience as a writer and/or reporter, including the ability to perform and multi-task under pressure.
• Strongly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and possessing outstanding communication and coordination skills.
• A proven ability to report and write accurately and clearly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven news environment.
• A clear understanding of CNBC's editorial and programming priorities, and CNBC Pro's editorial priorities in particular.
• Experience at a large online content destination, such as a leading online news site or financial publication would be advantageous.
• Experience working with content management systems desirable.
• A flexible attitude to working different shifts occasionally when required.
• Fluency in English is essential.
• Ability to understand and process complex numerical information.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
