Job Description

CNBC Digital is looking for an Associate Photo Editor with strong editorial judgment and journalistic integrity; an editor who is able to produce complex photo assignments, think conceptually and work quickly and effectively within a breaking newsroom setting. The Associate Photo Editor will be responsible for photographic coverage, focused on business news which covers a wide range of subject matter including politics, markets, technology, media, climate, aviation, retail, automotives, energy, personal finance and small business. You also will have the opportunity to use your photographic skills to photograph guest interviews, internal and external events and studio portraits. The position is currently hybrid based in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. (Tues-Weds-Thurs & WFH M/F) and will report to the Sr. Photo Editor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work quickly and accurately on breaking news and enterprise business stories, collaborating with the newsroom's editors, visual teams and section chiefs.
• Monitor news agency wire feeds of 15-20K photos daily
• Curate and produce visually-led stories in a fast-paced newsroom, anticipating photographic and other needs as stories develop. Work in our CMS to combine different formats, newsroom tools and visual elements.
• Pitch visually innovative and original projects and approaches to digital story production, demonstrating an understanding of the different platforms and audiences.
• Be familiar with legal issues around rights & usage involved with image licensing, permissions and privacy rights.
• Work autonomously, with clear communication skills and an ability to collaborate both in an in-person office environment as well as with remote team members.
• Be a strategic problem solver and motivation to work independently as well as with a team.
• Photograph guest interviews from CNBC broadcasts in studio, NYSE, and/or Nasdaq, internal and external event coverage, studio headshots etc.
• Maintain and administer a centralized photo database.

Qualifications
• At least 1+ years experience in a photo editing role, an enthusiasm for good journalism and current events, and keen news judgment.
• Keen awareness of the current events and decision makers affecting markets, economics, geopolitics, companies, government policy and general business
• Proven deep research skills and experience with news gathering and research tools.
• Strong organizational and communication skills and an ability to balance short and long term projects across different sections.
• An eye for detail and awareness of cultural sensitivities to make photo selections that are both accurate and tasteful
• Proficiency using Canon DSLR camera systems: flash, strobes, studio lighting etc.
• Advanced experience with Photoshop, Lightroom, FTP, CMS/DAM systems

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
• An eye for detail and awareness of cultural sensitivities to make photo selections that are both accurate and tasteful
• Initiative to take on and learn new tasks in a fast-moving environment.
• Experience with graphic/web design, html/CSS, multimedia storytelling a plus.
