Job Description
JOB TITLE: Youth Baseball & Softball Program Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Cubs Charities

REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, Youth Baseball and Softball Initiatives

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

ROLE: The mission of Cubs Charities is to mobilize the power of sport to champion youth, families, and communities. We achieve this through sports-based youth development and academic programming, investments in safe places to play, and strategic grantmaking. The Cubs Charities Program Coordinator will assist the department with management and execution of Cubs Charities programs including Cubs Nike RBI ''Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities'' baseball and softball1, Cubs Junior All Stars,2 the Diamond Project3, and other sports-based youth development activations or related future programming

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with Cubs Charities staff to implement of Cubs Charities programs including (but not limited to):

Cubs Junior All-Stars (CJAS):
• Manage program execution including operations, budgets, and evaluation with the goal of scaling as determined feasible (see below).
• Work with Evaluation and Impact Manager to implement program evaluation to assess the strengths and needs of the program to measure progress, areas for improvement and scalability.
• Support scheduling of CJAS clinics.
• Coordinate communication with CJAS coaches and community leagues.
• Recruit and train new CJAS coaches.
• Participate in execution of CJAS sessions including registration, time management, tracking participation and evaluation efforts.
• Procure necessary equipment and track program expenses.

Cubs RBI baseball/softball:
• Support Senior Manager and Evaluation and Impact Manager to implement program evaluation to assess the strengths and needs of the program to measure progress, identify areas for improvement and scalability.
• Serve as liaison to Cubs RBI field supervisors, umpires and coaches during baseball and softball summer league.
• Assist with managing schedules, reporting and trouble shooting in event of inclement weather, etc.
• Support execution of RBI All-Star baseball and softball tryouts.
• Assist with event planning and execution of the MLB RBI regional tournament.
• Support scheduling of clinics.
• Procure necessary equipment and track program expenses.

Diamond Project:
• Support scheduling of clinics and network building to strengthen pipeline to RBI.
• Support ribbon-cuttings and other activations at Diamond Project grantee locations.
• Provide support to execute capacity building workshops for youth leagues and parks to sustain programs and maintain fields.
• Support and expand field maintenance program with local high schools.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Undergraduate degree from an accredited university or college
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Experience in program management and/or development and administrative experience in athletics
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products
• Experience in managing youth sports events and/or tournaments
• Strong time management, multi-tasking capabilities and ability to meet deadlines
• Demonstrated staff management ability
• Demonstrated communications and writing skills
• Experience in budgeting
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Alumni of a Cubs Charities program (Cubs RBI, Cubs Scholars, RBI Scholars, etc.)
• Bilingual in Spanish
• Ability to foster teamwork
• Volunteer or community service experience
• Experience working with youth
• Poise and a professional presence
