OUR STORY

The Chicago Cubs franchise is a charter member of Major League Baseball's National League. Since 1876, the team has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee sign, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916, making it the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

We are seeking an experienced strategic and operational human resources professional to join us as an Assistant Director of Human Resources. This role will report to the Director of Human Resources and be instrumental in optimizing our people operations and delivering on the fundamentals of our employee experience. This role requires a hands-on leader committed to maintaining compliance and delivering excellence in all people operations activities.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:
• Own all aspects of people operations that enable an effective employee experience across the full employee lifecycle from on-boarding through off-boarding.
• Lead, coach and develop the operations team to ensure operational excellence in service delivery with focus on quality, employee experience and efficiency.
• Ensure the organization maintains data integrity through implementing efficient processes with clear workflows. Oversee system updates or additional automation initiatives to ensure effective implementation and roll-out.
• Help build an analytics driven organization that leverages reporting and dashboards to provide actionable insights on service delivery, and operations accuracy and effectiveness. Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement within HR processes or initiatives.
• Continuously evaluate and optimize HR processes to determine opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Lead all employee relations issues, including but not limited to HR policy violations, employee complaints, performance improvement plans, conflict resolution and investigations. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by ensuring employee complaints are fully investigated and addressed in a timely manner. Serve as the primary investigator on escalated matters.
• Stay current on industry trends and all employment laws and regulations related to HR operations and compliance. Make recommendations to improve current programs and ensure all policies and procedures and the employee handbook remain updated.
• Maintain and audit employee records, including personnel files, onboarding documentation, performance management records, etc.; ensure compliance with all record retention policies.
• Own the execution of all compliance related activities associated with benefits and compensation administration
• Manage all employee leaves of absence, including parental leave, STD, LTD, FMLA, etc.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, IT and external vendors to lead the execution of all HR Operations responsibilities

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• 7+ years experience in Human Resources; strong understanding of each functional area within HR, including HR Information Systems (HRIS), data integrity, analysis and reporting, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, and compliance
• Track record of successfully optimizing HR processes, driving automation and efficiency improvements in a fast-paced environment
• 3+ years experience managing a team; proven ability to lead a team to deliver operational excellence and ensure processes and initiatives are effectively and efficiently delivered
• Strategic thinker with the proven ability to translate HR initiatives into actionable plans and lead a team to effectively execute on those plans
• Thorough knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements
• Experience managing employee relations
• Proven excellent project and process management skills; experience leading cross-functional projects
• Ability to prioritize, plan and organize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting deadlines and managing day to day activities
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and delegate tasks to ensure deadlines are met
• Proven solutions focused approach; strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to quickly establish credibility, build trust and develop positive working relationships with team members, peers, and leadership
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends
