Overview and Responsibilities:
KCBS2/KCAL9, part of CBS's Owned & Operated stations in Los Angeles, is seeking an expert journalist to join our team. This role is critical in crafting our morning content strategy on CBSLA.com and KCAL News social platforms.
In this role you'll be a driving force of content creation on CBSLA.com and on KCAL News social platforms by collaborating with national and local journalists to build engaging, timely, and quality content. Your work will help drive the day's news agenda, turning story tips and local issues into compelling articles, interactive media, and digital-first features!
We want someone with strong digital writing experience and who is familiar with AP style. They should have experience working on a variety of social media platforms and understand how to best engage with viewers.
The position requires storytelling skills, research abilities, SEO knowledge and efficient copyediting standards. We value producers who will turn stories, tips and local issues into articles and interactive content! Ideally, the candidate will have basic news producing experience and an understanding of how a newscast is put together.
Responsibilities:
• Generate, edit, and publish content
• Collaborate with editorial teams across multiple platforms to ensure cohesive storytelling.
• Leverage SEO and digital trends to improve audience engagement.
• Copyedit for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to AP style.
Basic Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of experience in crafting and building content for multiple platforms.
• Strong knowledge of SEO.
• Demonstrated success operating in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Ability to work under deadlines.
• Detailed knowledge of social media and the competitive digital news environment.
• Available for mornings, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as this is a 24-hour business.
Additional Qualifications:
• College degree or equivalent experience.
• Social media experience.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring the highest quality standards.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $55,068.00 - 90,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
