Job Description

CBS Philadelphia is looking for a creative and dedicated full-time news staff photographer/editor with great multitasking and storytelling abilities.

The primary duty of this news photographer is to work with news reporters, producers, and our assignment desk to shoot high quality, compelling and creative visual content. This video photographer will travel light and work quickly. The candidate will be adaptable, tenacious, and nimble enough to capture fleeting moments. We are seeking someone proficient in videography, lighting, and editing who will bring local news stories to life.

Candidates must possess excellent people skills, a strong work ethic, and a positive outlook. A passion for storytelling is important. The ideal candidate must also be able to respond to breaking news events when the situation warrants. This position is perfect for an expert photographer who is eager to contribute to original reporting, enterprise content, and has demonstrated the ability to work well under pressure and make deadlines.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Candidates must demonstrate an ability to direct lighting, set overall visual look and sound related to technical specifications for projects, and also perform as a one-person crew or as part of a team.
• Ensure that all pictures and sound are of the highest quality and accurately recorded.
• Must be a teammate who works closely with reporters and producers by providing support logistics and shot requirements.
• Operate ENG and Sat vehicles.
• Maintain all gear including crew vehicles, work with appropriate departments to keep all gear up to date and in working order.
• Trouble-shoot quickly and effectively in a variety of circumstances.
• Work under deadline pressure.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 5 years' experience working as an ENG photographer in local news or equivalent situation.
• Possess interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to listen and provide and receive constructive criticism.
• In-depth knowledge of existing and evolving newsgathering technologies.
• Must be self-motivated, proactive, collaborative and possess a high level of creativity to tell stories with sound and images.
• Experience in logistics, special event planning and execution.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid US driver's license to drive.
• Valid US passport to travel domestically and internationally.
• Ability to lift 50 plus lbs. of newsgathering equipment.
• Available to work weekends, overnights, varying shifts, and overtime when necessary to meet production and broadcast deadlines in all kinds of weather conditions.
• Travel for production
• Proficient with streaming technologies such as Dejero and LiveU.
• Able to travel for assignments that could last days or weeks.
