Freelance Video Producer
Overview:
CBS News Streaming is seeking a detail-oriented self-starter who executes the needs of various CBS News shows regarding audio, video, graphics, while maintaining the on-air quality of CBS News Streaming, CBSNews.com, CBS News YouTube pages, Paramount+, and other platforms where CBS News is on.
Ideal candidates must be able to edit video and help produce other associated elements for programming, while taking direction from editorial producers and show liaisons. They must also be able to multitask and have experience with Avid Media Composer, Avid Media Cloud UX, and SonyCi for delivering videos.
CBS News Streaming is looking for someone with a passion for journalism, news and current events, and who can collaborate with producers and reporters to transform ideas into visual reality.

Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Edit videos ranging from: quick-turn around VOs, SOTs, NATPKGs, PKGs, headline opens, syndicated 30 minute to hour-long programming, short and long-form documentary-style packages, while maintaining sound news judgment throughout the process
• Elevate audio-visual quality of all elements that air on CBS News and its other platforms
• Juggle multiple edits for news shows and breaking news situations
• Quality control videos that go on air and on Crispin
• Collaborate with fellow editors and producers
• Keeping relevant stakeholders updated with assignment progress
• Deliver video assets to various stakeholders, and distribute on-demand video content
Basic Qualifications:
• A minimum of 3-5 years work experience producing and editing video for broadcast or digital streaming news production
• Fluent in Avid Media Composer
• Ability to handle intense deadline pressure and continually react to breaking news in a calm, streamlined and efficient manner
• Ability to provide creative solutions, multitask, and prioritize assignments well under extreme deadlines
• Excellent editorial judgment and a superior eye for spotting compelling video
• Strong understanding of media management
• Demonstrated ability in working collaboratively with others, both in person and remotely
• Basic photo-editing skills
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and work ethic
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Slack
• Ability to work flexible hours, holidays and weekends
• Must be willing to work in CBS News' broadcast center in New York at a minimum of 4x a week
• Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience
Desired qualifications:
• Familiarity in Adobe Suite (specifically Premiere, Photoshop, Encoder, and Audition) are a plus
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication or other discipline emphasizing storytelling and multimedia creation
• Experience shooting with ENG cameras and and three-point lighting
• Experience with green screen studio setup
• Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing
Additional job requirements:
• Must be able to provide a reel/portfolio of work examples (include web address when submitting a resume)
• Must be able to pass an edit test
Note: This a position covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement with IBEW Local 1212
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Hourly Range: $60.908 - 60.908
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
