Job Description
The ''CBS Evening News with Norah O'Donnell'' is the premier flagship broadcast that covers the latest domestic and international headlines with context and in-depth stories! The Senior Broadcast Producer will report to and work closely with the Executive Producer and collaborate with the Anchor Bureau Chiefs, Senior Producers, Producers and Correspondents to support the strategic vision of CBS Evening News.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Help drive the daily editorial direction of the show by regularly working with the desk, correspondents, and producers in the field and at CBS News bureaus worldwide in conjunction with the senior staff.
• Plan initial rundown for the daily newscast and continue to program and adjust lineup as needed to respond to developing and breaking news.
• Plan for and prioritize coverage of known future news events.
• Lead all aspects of daily big picture on show copy and story scripts, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, accessibility, and overall flow.
• Manage daily and future story producer assignments.
• Develop new and maintain existing franchise opportunities, like MoneyWatch and Healthwatch, and incorporate into our daily programming.
• Field incoming pitches and coordinate execution thereafter.
• Collaborate with other CBS News shows and beats to utilize, repurpose, and repackage content in compelling ways.
• Innovate new presentation methods and tactics to keep the show fresh and relevant in an evolving media landscape.
• Coordinate with ad sales and marketing/promo department for upcoming pieces.
• Contribute to broadcast strategy sessions and implement appropriate follow-up.
• Continue to evolve the broadcast in a multiplatform environment with the Executive Producer.

Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience as a senior television news producer, supervising producer or senior broadcast producer at a major broadcast network, cable news network or digital news company.
• Successful management track record.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in journalism or a related field of study is preferred.
• Ability to recognize news stories that have a high potential of becoming compelling television pieces.
• Deep knowledge of current events, politics, national and international news
• Extensive control room and rundown management experience for a live broadcast.
• Excellent understanding of broadcast and news production.
• Experience making editorial decisions and prioritizing resources to cover key segments, under deadlines while overseeing production.
• Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Experience writing and editing package and producing live segments for broadcast television.
• Stellar organizational, time-management and planning skills.
• Proven track record of remaining cool and thinking quickly while under pressure.
• Willingness to travel, often with little notice, for breaking news or to establish remote broadcasts.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $300,000.00 - 400,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
