Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Broadcast Field Engineer to join our team at CBS News. In this role, you will be responsible for providing timely and professional technical support in a fast-paced, 24x7x365 field newsgathering and production environment. You will operate satellite news gathering trucks and fly-aways, install and configure video streaming hardware, perform quality control. The ideal candidate must also possess a strong work ethic and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities:
• Providing timely and professional technical support in a fast-paced 24x7x365 newsgathering/production environment
• Setting up and operating satellite news gathering trucks & fly-aways, installing & configuring video streaming hardware, performing quality control, maintenance and system level repair of all television broadcast and/or satellite transmission and receiving equipment, as well as performing general hardware and software support for local computing equipment on site
• Performing varied tasks when required on assignment to support the production
• Performing 24x7x365 broadcast technical support to include installation, maintenance and troubleshooting/repair of sophisticated streaming, audio and video remote broadcast production/television equipment
• Performing periodic project-based work to help team evaluate new transmission/encoding systems
• Acting in a lead (Engineer-in-Charge) technical role while on remote productions or project assignment.
• Maintain company-issued gear and keep it up to date and in working order.

Qualifications:
• Proficient RF, electronic/electrical, and IT support skills
• Unrestricted ability to drive and travel frequently on short notice as business needs require. Must have a valid driver's license and passport.
• Ability to physically lift and move equipment weighing 50 pounds or more
• Ability to adapt to, and troubleshoot, rapidly changing situations frequently encountered in field remote environments
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and solving complex technical problems
• Ability to work independently and autonomously in a team-based environment
• Document quality standards, system anomalies, operational procedures, reference materials, and project work material as applicable
• 5 or more years of experience in SNG transmissions, radio/television production, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of TV, radio equipment, IT systems, satellite, production and studio systems; IP streaming systems, file ingest systems, and quality control
• Multi-camera field-based production experience
• Ability to coordinate and communicate well with others to get the work done
• Demonstrated knowledge of computer and data networking hardware and applications to ensure complete technical support in the field
• Able to take ownership of situations and take issues to resolution
• Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to listen and receive feedback

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $103,048.40 - 115,165.96.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
