Overview:
Face the Nation (FTN) is looking for a Broadcast Associate (BA) with exceptional organizational skills, is thorough, and who thrives as a team player. The BA is someone who the team relies on for research and administrative duties throughout the week. The candidate must have a strong interest in Washington politics and policy.
Qualifications:
• Able to work under tight deadlines and keep a calm head under pressure
• Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
• Strong research skills and familiarity with public and private records databases, such as Lexis Nexis are a preferred
• The ideal candidate is a team player, is detail-oriented and, can effectively multi-task
• The ability to think and act proactively is an enormous asset
• Internship or comparable experience working on a news broadcast is a plus
• Bachelors in journalism or related discipline, with strong editorial skills and judgement preferred
• An interest in Washington politics and policy, as well as a strong understanding of the three branches of government a must
• Solid knowledge of social media platforms and how to craft language for professional new posts
Responsibilities:
• The Face the Nation Broadcast Associate assists with administrative tasks as needed
• Serves as extensive researcher on a variety of topics and potential show guests for weekly broadcast
• Duties include overseeing transcription download, proofreading and ''clean up'' process, so candidate must have excellent spelling and grammar skills
• Will be asked to fact-check and copy-edit scripts, so extreme attention to detail is required
• Additional duties supporting the show include catering for the staff on Sundays, arranging transportation for guests, keeping track of expenses incurred for guest travel and catering
• Must have strong grasp of social media and be able to assist with twitter and social of broadcast elements as needed
• Work with producers on screening video, gathering elements for both digital and broadcast use
• Workweek is Wednesday-Sunday, with an understanding that flexibility and ability to work additional hours as needed for special projects or as news warrants
