CBS News is seeking a highly skilled IBEW Avid Editor to join our Los Angeles Bureau. This full-time position requires a detail-oriented, technically proficient editor who thrives under deadline pressure and brings a strong storytelling sensibility to both breaking news and longform content. The ideal candidate will work closely with producers, correspondents, and field teams to shape compelling pieces that meet the highest editorial standards of CBS News.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Edit short-form and long-form content using Avid Media Composer
• Meet tight deadlines while preserving editorial quality
• Collaborate with producers and correspondents to achieve creative and journalistic goals
• Record, ingest incoming video feeds, and oversee live playback
• Organize, manage, and archive media content and metadata
• Troubleshoot technical issues in the Avid editing environment and broadcast workflows
• Work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Maintain communication with newsroom and field teams to support news gathering
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in broadcast or news editing
• Proven proficiency in Avid Media Composer and related newsroom workflows
• Strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills
• Excellent task management and organizational skills
• Solid understanding of media management systems and digital workflows
• Proven ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work on-site
PREFERRED:
• Knowledge of Adobe Premiere

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $57.03 - 57.03.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
