Sports Digital Senior Editor - Soccer

Role Details:

We are looking for a team leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment to manage coverage of soccer, a sport in which we are growing quickly. We want somebody who has a deep knowledge of all levels of soccer, its history and its fans, focused on editing stories and managing content for CBSSports.com. You will work with the Assistant Managing Editor of soccer/NBA/MLB and an elite team of editors and writers.

Your Day-to-Day:
• Help identify what is relevant and important to our audience
• Edit, manage and conceive soccer written content with an eye on covering the league from a national perspective.
• Focus on converting readers into All Access viewers of UEFA and NWSL matches
• Forecast and anticipate trends in audience interest and consumption habits
• Additional other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Key Projects:
• Work on fueling the daily story content efforts on CBS Sports HQ and publication of stories on CBSSports.com
• Develop relationships and help improve writers on all levels through strong editing and feedback
• Conceive new content approaches to help push CBS Sports to stay in the lead on soccer conversations

QUALIFICATIONS:

What you bring to the team:

You have -
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a communications-related field (or equivalent training & experience)
• Soccer writing or editing experience
• Minimum 6 years working in a journalism-related field
• Experience working with Content Management Systems

You might also have -
• A strong portfolio of prior work in a similar field
• Experience working with Photoshop or similar programs
• Demonstrated ability for strategic editorial thinking
• Schedule flexibility and the ability to work weekends
