Job Description
#WeAreParamount on a mission to unleash the power of content… you in?
We've got the brands, we've got the stars, we've got the power to achieve our mission to entertain the planet - now all we're missing is… YOU! Becoming a part of Paramount means joining a team of passionate people who not only recognize the power of content but also enjoy a touch of fun and uniqueness. Together, we co-create moments that matter - both for our audiences and our employees - and aim to leave a positive mark on culture.

CBS Stations is looking for an AR/VR News Designer who is a hands-on creative focused on one thing: making news stories clearer, sharper, and more engaging through ARVR. This role is about building visual tools that help explain what's happening, whether it's breaking news, developing coverage, or everyday segments. Not spectacle. Not gimmicks. Real storytelling support. You'll take complex or fast-moving information and turn it into visuals that make sense instantly on air.

Role Overview
The ARVR News Designer works directly with producers and editorial teams to design and build real-time AR/VR elements that support news coverage. From breaking news to explainers, this role is in charge of creating environments, graphics, and visual moments that help viewers understand the story.
You'll concept it, build it, and refine it. Working in Unreal Engine, Cinema 4D, and Adobe tools to deliver clean, intentional visuals under tight deadlines. You'll work across creative, editorial, and technical teams to build AR/VR environments that make stories clearer, sharper, and more engaging on air.

We are open to considering the office location for this position as any one of our CBS O&O stations.

Key Responsibilities

Build for the Story:

• Design and execute ARVR elements that support breaking news and daily coverage
• Create explainers, timelines, maps, and visualizations that make complex stories easier to understand
• Quickly translate editorial ideas into clear, real-time visuals
• Build scenes that feel grounded, readable, and focused

Work at News Speed:

• Respond to breaking news with fast-turn ARVR solutions
• Develop flexible templates and systems that can be reused across stories
• Balance speed with quality, knowing what matters in the moment
• Adapt visuals as stories evolve throughout the day

Collaborate with Editorial:

• Work directly with producers to understand the story before designing the visual
• Help shape how a story is told visually, not just execute requests
• Stay aligned with newsroom priorities and deadlines

Execute in Real Time:

• Build and refine ARVR scenes in Unreal Engine and Cinema 4D
• Design lighting, materials, motion, and camera moves that feel natural on air
• Ensure all elements perform consistently in real-time broadcast environments
• Optimize assets for speed, clarity, and consistency

Keep It Clean, Keep It Useful:

• Avoid unnecessary complexity - every element should serve the story
• Maintain a modern, editorial-first design approach
• Contribute to a growing library of reusable ARVR tools for news coverage
• Help define what effective ARVR storytelling looks like across stations

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong background in motion design, 3D, or broadcast graphics
• Experience with Unreal Engine (real-time design is core to the role)
• Proficiency in Cinema 4D and Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Strong sense of composition, structure, typography, and motion
• Ability to simplify complex information into clear visuals
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
• Strong communication skills, especially with editorial teams

What Sets You Apart:

• You think like a storyteller, not just a designer
• You can take a messy, complex story and make it visually obvious
• You progress fast without losing preference
• You care about helping the viewer understand what's happening---

Why CBS News & Stations
At CBS News & Stations, AR/VR is no longer experimental-it is operational, scalable, and central to how we tell stories. This role sits at the intersection of design, technology, and journalism, influencing daily newscasts and major national moments across the country.
You'll help shape the visual language of modern broadcast news while working alongside industry-leading creative and technical team.
