OVERVIEW
CAA, which acquired ICM Partners last year, has expanded its publishing operations in London. A fast-paced and growing department selling publication and media rights across all languages, territories, and formats to establish and develop literary careers worldwide; we work with internationally acclaimed and bestselling authors across fiction and non-fiction.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and efficient Contracts Manager to join our growing team in the publishing Business Affairs department across the UK and translation businesses. The role would suit someone commercially minded, highly organised and detail orientated. The Contracts Manager plays a vital role in keeping the business running smoothly.
Although not an exhaustive list, the role will include the following:
• Drafting, editing, proofreading, summarising, and redlining agreements and correspondence.
• Checking and editing term sheets.
• Assisting agents during negotiations.
• Tracking contracts and project status and maintaining accurate files.
• Assisting with special projects, research, and compiling information as needed.
• Experience drafting and commenting on a variety of intellectual property agreements.
• Scope to learn from an experienced Business Affairs team across all areas of media and entertainment.
• General Business Affairs support, including administrative support.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Must have some relevant experience within the book publishing industry.
• Excellent organisational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to juggle a multitude of tasks.
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to perform well under pressure.
• Team-oriented.
• Familiarity with contracts in the entertainment business, preferably relating to the publishing industry (e.g., translation agreements and/or UK head publishing agreements).
• Experience proofreading, drafting and redlining contracts preferred.
