The Role
CAA seeks an executive level Senior Art Director for our in-house Creative Services department. In this role, they will report to the Head of Creative Services and lead our in-house design team to research, develop, design and produce superior creative on a wide range of projects to support our internal and external clients, corporate needs, and special projects. The Lead Designer will be responsible for the visual expression of the CAA brand on design work including but not limited to pitch decks and live presentations, invitations, digital, trade ads, collateral, merchandise, and video motion graphics.
Responsibilities
• Provide creative thought leadership for the design team on projects related to print, experiential, environmental, social media, and digital design
• Lead the design direction and output of the CS team's design work
• Review art creation by providing creative mentorship and professional guidance, including detailed notes, feedback, and design examples for design team's work and continued growth
• Research, conceptualize and articulate design concepts and ideas through creation of moodboards, a range of concepts, and bespoke designs for internal initiatives and client projects
• Liaise with department leaders, and internal contacts via emails, calls, and meetings to review project briefs and details, and to determine content needs and direction
• Collaborate with Creative Directors in other departments to execute and roll out assets for a variety of internal and external projects
• Create and finish design expression of concepts and ideas which are original, exciting and engaging for the client
• Develop, evolve, uphold, and enhance CAA's branding guideline standards for use on internal branded materials and be a key member of the CS executive leadership team
• Develop and maintain branded PowerPoint and Keynote deck templates for cross-company use
• Evaluate pitch strategies for decks and presentations, internally and externally
• Work directly with agents and clients to rework pitch flow and copy for deck presentations
• Point of contact for supporting and communicating with high-profile client pursuits
• Work with Project Manager to ensure each project, in accordance with briefing, are clearly outlined and estimated
• Work with Head of CS department to review and suggest best practices on a quarterly basis
• Determine and uphold best quality specs for deliverables
• Establish internal creative team process, design workflow, create a project management board and system, train designers and project manager on best practices, and make suggestions for continued development
• Work with the head of CS to develop a design portal form to continue project intake efficiency and optimize productivity
• Lead creative brainstorms for corporate brand projects
• Guide, influence, and motivate others with thought-provoking ideas and recommendations
• Lead the design team support of our monthly Agency staff meetings, yearly Retreats and special events
• Stay up to date on latest design and technology trends to continually improve skills
• Maintain organized project files, and design archives
• Assist in supporting an inspiring atmosphere and desirable workflow to achieve highest quality
• Set the standard for design team in quality of work, pride in work, and work ethic
• Recommend required resources and technology needed to execute assigned projects to team
• Can articulate and present the pros and cons of newly proposed platforms, quickly synthesizes feedback from multiple stakeholders, and proposes key design solutions
• Work with internal developers to create a process and workflow for creating custom designed webpages for CAA's intranet
• Spearhead implementation of HTML emails by presentation of concept, establishing a platform, building a templates and processes, training team members, and working with IT and the project manager to deploy emails from CRM platform
• Identify new team positions, interview candidates, onboard, and train oncoming team members
• Work with the Head of CS to develop job descriptions and parameters for new team additions
• Work with Head of CS and designers to create invite materials and organize team gathering
• Work with Head of CS to lead and conduct annual team performance reviews
• Translate CAA Intel data into easy to digest graphs and charts used for pitch materials
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in arts, fine arts, graphic design, advertising or other related degree preferred
• At least 8+ years of professional experience working in a creative environment such as an agency, design studio, advertising agency, digital agency or in-house creative department
• Experience handling multiple, long term and short-term projects
• Strong portfolio showcasing excellent professional design work, talent and imagination
• Experience managing and mentoring junior to mid-level designers
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback that inspires creative output and exceeds expectations
• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and a desire to explore and harness new technologies to enhance our work product
• Understanding of front-end web and mobile U.I. design, of user interface principles, and working knowledge of self-publishing and social media platforms
• Exceptional taste level and sense of aesthetics
• Excellent communications skills, including the ability to convey creative concepts and rationale
• Positive, hard-working, ''can-do'' client service attitude
• Ability to multi-task on multiple projects simultaneously
• Desire to be a part of an organization that values teamwork and taking care of each other
• An ability to dig into complex ideas or a large amount of information and help craft an engaging storyline that dynamically brings the material to life
