The Role

Creative Artists Agency is seeking an experienced Controller to undertake all aspects of financial reporting and consolidation for the Agency business and its subsidiaries. This role will be hands on with all aspects of accounting and monthly financial statement close as well key management reporting. This is a key leadership role within the Accounting organization responsible for cross training and collaborating within the department as well as the externally in the organization.

Responsibilities
• Support business units and corporate colleagues with structuring, analyzing and determining accounting position for complex, significant, and unique transactions within the Agency and its subsidiaries
• Review and evaluate contracts for significant arrangements and new business terms to identify potential accounting issues and address as applicable.
• Assess emerging accounting standards in conjunction with the technical financial reporting team and lead implementation efforts for identified changes.
• Create, implement and maintain comprehensive worldwide accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency
• Implement and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements
• Perform continuous management and assessment of the close process and process reengineering to reduce the timing to close the financial period
• Continually strive to optimize and automate new process to streamline and increase efficiency within various functions affecting the entire organization
• Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues
• Lead CAA with methods and actions that are ethical and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies.
• Communicate strategic objectives within and outside of CAA to establish a shared vision while providing strong leadership and coaching to the teams responsible for executing that vision.
• Create and execute a clear strategy for the CAA accounting team to ensure achievement of best-in-class service.
• Provide leadership in developing well-defined initiatives and ensure teams understand, support, and meet expected performance levels.
• Anticipate and ensure the development and maintenance of robust, scalable capabilities (processes, systems, internal controls, policies/procedures, organization, and compliance) to support the CAA's growth.
• Design and implement robust staff training and development.
• Ensure the team is fully engaged with a continuous process improvement, internal and external customer-focused, and value-added mind set.
• Create and maintain an environment that fosters teamwork, open communication, and good employee morale.
• Lead and manage cross functional accounting and finance teams in implementing significant company initiatives. And operational changes.
• Support complex accounting transactions and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP.
• Support external financial and SOX audits, internal audits and third-party regulatory audits.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with an emphasis in Accounting.
• 15 or more years accounting experience (public/private combined experience is a plus).
• Industry specific Entertainment accounting is a plus
• Proficient in understanding ERP systems and reporting tools.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and/or MBA.
