JOB TITLE: Minor League Assistant Medical Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Athletic Training / Player Development
JOB SUMMARY: The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a full-time minor league assistant medical coordinator for the 2023 Major League Baseball Championship season. The assistant coordinator is primarily charged with supporting the medical coordinator with the administration, management, and coordination of all Minor League Athletic Trainers and reports to the Head Athletic Trainer, Director of Player Development and Team Physicians.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary duties to include, but not limited to the following:
• Will be based in Sarasota, FL at Ed Smith Complex year around.
• Oversee the daily duties of all Minor League Athletic Trainers in conjunction with the Minor League Medical Coordinator.
• Assist with oversight and communication in the daily management of all injuries to Minor League Players to the Front Office, Head Athletic Trainer and Team Physicians.
• Oversight of daily treatment/rehabilitation plans & rehab calendars for the Florida Complex and FCL team.
• Collaborate with Minor League PT on long term rehabilitation programs
• Perform site visits to the affiliate locations to help develop and support the minor league athletic training staff.
• Maintain a clean and professional athletic training room with up to date and calibrated equipment at Twin lakes and Ed Smith complexes.
• Responsible for ordering athletic training supplies for both complexes in Sarasota.
• Coordinate and schedule doctor appointments, surgical consults, surgeries and follow up appointments with Team Physicians.
• Oversee scheduling of appointments for FCL team in conjunction with FT assistant athletic trainer assigned to FCL.
• Maintain and oversee the physician network in Sarasota.
• Oversee COVID/Illness protocols for affiliates and Sarasota based team
• Coordinate with Team EAP for all minor league players who require a TUE and or any other personal needs.
• Coordinate the pre-draft medical review process with the scouting department and Team Physicians (primary)
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation for minor leagues including but not limited to regular audits of EMR records for players/staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• National Athletic Trainer's Association – Board of Certification in good standing.
• Eligible and in good standing for Florida and Maryland state athletic training licensure.
• Minimum 5 years of experience
• CPR / AED Certified
Desired:
• Previous baseball experience
• Spanish Proficiency
