Overview

Audacy has an opening for a talented radio broadcast engineer for its six-station cluster in our Houston market. This is a hands-on position with emphasis on proven engineering skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
• Maintain, inspect and repair all broadcast radio station equipment, including transmitters, satellite downlinks, network infrastructure, automation systems, studio equipment, AOIP networks, UPS's, remote control equipment, generators, VOIP and telephone systems.
• Maintain and Review weekly transmitter and studio logs for correct and complete entries including EAS tests and tower lighting requirements per F.C.C. Rules and Regulations
• Provide support 24/7 in case of equipment failure; available to work various hours/days, including weekends and holidays

What You'll Do:
• Maintain integrity of all on-air and on-line products, including high power FM + HD, AM, digital audio & audio streaming
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all broadcast radio station equipment, including transmitters, antennas, STL, satellite downlinks, studio equipment, remote equipment, generators and backup power systems, telephone system and related equipment in keeping with good engineering practices
• Install and maintain broadcast IT systems at studios and transmitter sites, such as WideOrbit, Axia and Newsroom including workstations and servers.
• Assist in planning and development of all aspects of technical facilities including studios, transmitters, VOIP, AOIP, satellite, STL, computers and data networks
• Create instructional materials and teach operators to use technical equipment and systems
• Handle telco problems and service calls. Work with technicians to troubleshoot circuits; cross connect in-house circuits.
• Generator testing, fueling and supervision of maintenance.
• UPS testing and supervision of maintenance
• Effectively communicate and partner with programming staff as well as outside partners
• Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary

Qualifications

Required & Preferred:
• Minimum 3 years broadcast engineering experience
• Associate's degree in electronics preferred
• IT networking skills preferred
• Knowledge of FCC Rules and Regulations
• Ability to provide support 24/7 in case of equipment failure; available to work various hours/days, including weekends and holidays
• FCC General Class License or SBE Certifications are a plus
• A valid driver's license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant's own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required
• Strong verbal and writing communications skills
