Soft Goods Fabrication Manager


The Soft Goods Fabrication Manager is responsible for the management and development of the soft goods department. The ideal candidate for this role possesses strong people management skills alongside technical fabrication skills, including foam fabrication, puppetry, costumes, and sewing.


Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative leadership in managing people, infrastructure, and facilities
  • Set priorities and manage the workload of department staff
  • Manage operation budgets and reporting
  • Manage and track supplies and inventory
  • Plan and facilitate effective meetings
  • Implement changes and new systems within the department to facilitate growth
  • Engage staff in defining and using best-practice tools and methodology
  • Maintain compliance with Animax policies, contractual obligations, and all applicable laws
  • Assess and determine staffing needs
  • Set cost and labor estimates during bid and planning phases
  • Create strategy, goals, and plans for the team as appropriate
  • Supervise staff activities and progress
  • Act as a moderator or liaison and know when to seek assistance in resolving conflict
  • Collaborate and share information with other members and groups across the organization
  • Demonstrate knowledge within the department’s functional area necessary to make decisions, supervise work and answer questions
  • Embrace continuous learning and self-development, involving aspects pertaining to the department itself and the greater organization

Qualifications

  • Vocational or other technical school or certification required beyond high school in related trade or equivalent experience accepted
  • 5+ years of professional soft goods or costume construction
  • 3+ years of management and scheduling experience required
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
