Please note this is a hybrid position and requires you to work from our Vancouver studio for part of the work week. This is not a remote opportunity.

Are you a Modelling Supervisor who would like to work with us on our upcoming feature animation, at either our Sydney or Vancouver studio?

We are looking for an artistic and technical leader, who, in partnership with the Asset Department Supervisor, CG Supervisor, and the Performance Technology Team, will be accountable for the technical and artistic outcomes of the modelling department on a single production.

The supervisor will be accountable for the deliverables of the modelling department and participate in ensuring consistency of quality and look for our next show.

What you'll get to do:
• Work closely with the Director and Supervisors to define, understand, and maintain the film's visual style
• Partner with the Asset Department Supervisor, Production Designer, Producers, and Project Supervisors to prepare bids and pitches as required
• Partner with Production Management to implement a schedule that ensures the department delivers on time, to a high level of quality
• Communicate the overall brief and goals of a project to team members, driving the delivery of creative goals on time and to the highest standard
• Drive the team reviews and offer creative/technical feedback on reviewed assets
• Recruit, manage, mentor all artists in the modelling department and collaborate with Artist Management and Recruitment as required
• Supervise, define, implement, and maintain the techniques, tools, and pipeline required to achieve the successful execution of the Modelling output for the film
• Communicate and collaborate with the relevant supervisors, R&D, and the Performance Technology Team as necessary
• Collaborate with the CG and department supervisors to determine best-case approaches for each asset in the project

What you bring:
• 7+ years' modelling experience in feature animation, VFX and/or animated TV
• 2+ years' experience in a supervisory role in feature animation or VFX preferred
• Expert knowledge with Maya modelling tools and ZBrush
• Familiarity with Houdini and Marvelous Designer is a plus
• Expertise in both hard surface and organic environments, props and creatures
• An interest in pipeline, processes, tools, and techniques, with a high-level understanding of industry standards, conventions, formats, and practices
• A strong artistic eye, excellent attention to detail and great communication skills
• The ability to successfully lead and motivate a large team of modellers, providing feedback, and fostering a constructive team dynamic

The base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $190,000 per annum. The salary offered for this role will be commensurate with, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, years of experience, relevant education, and other applicable qualifications related to the role. The salary offered is based on a 40-hour work week and is not inclusive on Animal Logic's extended benefits package, long-term incentives, bonuses or other components that may be applicable to the total compensation package for this role.
