Job Description

Are you a Financial Accountant interested in joining us in our Vancouver studio?! The Financial Accountant is responsible for the accuracy of the general ledger accounts and helps drive the month-end close process ensuring timely financial reporting. The Financial Accountant assists the Financial Controller and works closely with all members of the finance department. This is an all-encompassing role within a compact team.

What you'll get to do:
• Full-cycle accounts payable duties including tracking, seeking approvals, posting invoices and compiling the weekly EFT run
• Drive the month-end close process, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and accurate
• Prepare and input month-end journal entries for items such as accruals and prepaid expenses
• Prepare working papers to support the various general ledger accounts
• Monitor cash and credit card balances on a daily basis, ensuring short-term needs will be met; monthly reconciliations
• Liaise with the Purchasing Officer to ensure financial aspects of fixed assets are recorded accurately in company's asset management software system and reconciled with accounting software
• Track and maintain fixed asset register in Excel
• Self-assess PST on a monthly basis and report PST on a quarterly basis
• Calculate and report GST on a monthly basis
• Track and issue petty cash and per diems to staff
• Analyze P&L accounts, explaining variances
• Assist external accountants with the annual audit
• Assist in the bi-weekly payroll run when needed
• Answer vendor inquiries and complete vendor reconciliations when required
• Assist the Financial Controller with ad hoc tasks and projects as required

What you bring:
• 5+ years' experience working in an intermediate accounting role for a Canadian company (film or television experience an asset)
• Bachelors' degree with accounting focus, pursuing professional designation or recent graduate
• Solid understanding of Canadian GAAP
• Previous experience with a multi-currency general ledger system
• Intermediate Excel and Word proficiency
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
