Job description

Activision Blizzard - known as ABK internally - has embarked on a multi-year journey to run an ever-increasing number of workloads in public cloud - in particular Google Cloud Platform (GCP). As we progress on that journey, we now need an experienced Engineering & Product Manager to assist in the leadership of our newly formed ABK Cloud FinOps function and help support Cloud FinOps activities at both the Activision Blizzard group level and across our group of companies.

Your role at ABK

As Cloud FinOps Engineering & Product Manager at ABK, you will:
• Together with our Cloud FinOps Engineer(s), be hands-on in the implementation and operation of our group-level Cloud FinOps reporting and CCMO tools/platforms
• Working together with our business units (Activision, Blizzard and King), define a common taxonomy for public cloud workloads at ABK
• Line-manage and provide engineering mentorship to our Cloud FinOps Engineer(s)
• Work with the Director of Cloud Commercial & Financial Management and other stakeholders to define an ABK-wide Cloud FinOps strategy
• Define and maintain the product roadmap for the ABK-level Cloud FinOps function
• Collaborate on and document Cloud FinOps best practices - eg, around the technical optimization of particular public cloud services to reduce cost, optimal strategies for the utilization of cost-optimization instruments, etc
• Work with colleagues in our nascent ABK Cloud Centre of Excellence to address issues of common concern - eg, a sudden spike in cloud spend possibly indicating a security incident
• Support and/or lead Cloud FinOps tooling evaluations and POCs

Key skills
• Highly knowledgeable of and proficient on at least one public cloud - ideally GCP
• Experienced working with cloud APIs, REST, OAuth, IAM, etc
• Strong at a Linux command line; know your cat from your grep
• Strong programming skills, preferably in at least two languages (of Go, Java, Node.js and Python)
• Data-native; can read and write complex SQL in your sleep
• Have experience of at least one BI platform
• Familiar with cloud security principles and best practices
• Have line/people management experience
• A passion and aptitude for product thinking, and for creating clear, engaging roadmaps and other communication artefacts
• Be comfortable working across countries and timezones on a daily basis (ABK has people across North America and Europe)
• Be a self-starter who can deliver results with minimal day-to-day direction

Bonus points
• Proficient on multiple public clouds
• BigQuery expert
• Familiar with containerized applications - including on Kubernetes/GKE
• Serverless savvy - ideally including Cloud Functions/Cloud Run/App Engine
• GCP certified (in particular, Professional Cloud Architect and/or Professional Data Engineer)
• Experienced with CCMO tools - eg, Apptio Cloudability
• Understanding of financial accounting concepts such as accrual-basis accounting, depreciation and amortization
• Have read the O'Reilly book ''Cloud FinOps'' from front to back!
