Producer - Climate Unit

Job Description

Every region of the world is touched by climate change. From hotter temperatures, to rising seas, to stronger hurricanes, we are watching it impact our lives every day. Having a strong team dedicated to identifying, contextualizing, creating and driving ABC News' coverage of climate change is critical.

Responsibilities:
• The PRODUCER of the ABC News Climate Unit will join the team reporting climate change stories across all ABC News platforms.
• Responsibilities include pitching, developing and producing climate change stories for all broadcast and digital platforms, with a focus on distinctive and creative visual storytelling.
• The Producer must be a creative storyteller, with the demonstrated ability to cover breaking and ongoing news with correspondents and other field production staff.

Basic Qualifications:
• Filed producing experience
• Highest interest in climate and weather stories
• Proven ability to manage, lead and inspire a field team
• Have an understanding of the audience interest in climate-related stories
• Strong ability to problem-solve and multi-task, coordinating several responsibilities simultaneously
• Experience in a fast paced work environment
• Proven ability to work well with the larger newsroom team

Required Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
