Job Description
ABC7 Los Angeles is seeking an experienced news manager and journalist to help lead day-to-day news operations, manage large-scale productions, and directly supervise our team of ENG photographers. This person will be a part of the senior leadership team in the newsroom driving coverage decisions in the second largest market in the country. The ideal candidate is someone with a creative eye, technical expertise and a can-do attitude who will take charge of visual storytelling across multiple platforms. This person will supervise, manage, train and develop our photographers, including oversight of equipment and tools used by the team.

The ideal candidate will have stellar editorial judgement and prior major-market experience, and a history of coaching and guiding team members. This newsroom manager will develop strategies for improvement of existing systems and implementation of emerging technologies.

This role is considered on-site, which means the employee will work from a Company designated location on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities:
• Supervise, train and develop ENG photographer staff, including recruiting, hiring, scheduling and accountability
• Management, assignment, and oversight of equipment and tools used by photographers.
• Proficient with shooting, editing, operation of live trucks
• Ensure daily video and audio quality meets newsroom standards
• Work collaboratively with senior newsroom leadership team, and may fill in for other managers as needed
• Involved in decision-making on logistics for daily news and special event coverage

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in television news production
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressure
• Proven experience as a digital video storyteller with strong camera and editing skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Must be flexible with working hours and adaptable to change

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Dalet
• Management experience in top 20 market
• Familiarity of union/labor regulations and requirements
• Knowledge of Southern California
• Experience operating newsgathering drone including certification

Require Education:
• High School Diploma

Preferred Education:
• Bachelor's degree

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $123,000 to $165,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
