Job Description
GMA Digital is hiring an Ecommerce & Weekend Trending Writer to pitch and write stories in support of our ecommerce business and trending coverage! Reporting into the Deputy Managing Editor, GMA, this individual must have experience supporting a commerce editorial community and/or brand and be able to report out breaking/trending news, entertainment and lifestyle stories.

We are looking for someone who is tapped into the tools and trends that support a thriving ecommerce business! From writing daily stories, contributing to newsletters and supporting broadcast commerce initiatives via digital stories, this position will pitch and write daily ecommerce stories. They should also be a clear writer, an experienced commerce curator and familiar with audience development tactics.

Additionally, they should be able to carry out reporting on trending / breaking news, from sourcing story ideas, to contacting the subjects of stories, to tackling review and permission processes, and filing.

This role works collaboratively with the digital video and social teams to create complete multimedia packages that live across all of our platforms.

The role is based in New York City, but open to candidates in Washington, DC or Los Angeles (working hours aligned with the team's Eastern Time schedule). The team is currently working in a hybrid model. Occasional early morning and evening shifts may be required.

Responsibilities:
• Conceive, pitch, report and write multimedia ecommerce and trending stories that engage digital audiences on a daily basis.
• Use ecommerce data to effectively inform commerce coverage.
• Write articles and produce digital coverage around broadcast ecommerce segments.
• Contribute to commerce newsletters.
• Execute special coverage for special events, including seasonal shopping events.
• Optimize content for SEO and different platforms.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of experience with ecommerce writing for a major brand.
• Strong digital writing skills.
• Excellent time-management, organizational and planning skills with an impeccable attention to detail.
• A willingness to work collaboratively across ABC News and take direction on all editorial decisions.

Required Education:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY, Washington DC or Los Angeles, CA is $78,800 to $108,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
