Intern - Sports / Bbn Tonight, WLEX

Our News and Sports/BBN internship at WLEX-TV in Lexington KY provides students with real-world experience and a unique insight into the news and sports environment at a highly successful local TV station. The intern will help cover the Kentucky Wildcats with the official station of UK Athletics and BBN Tonight, a nightly half-hour show dedicated to UK Sports. This person will also provide coverage of the many college and high school programs of central Kentucky.
Our internship is paid. In addition, a stipend to offset relocation or travel expenses (if necessary) is provided.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Hands-on work in all facets of news/sports reporting and production
• Create content for multiple platforms
• Gain experience in a competitive environment
• Learn broadcast writing and editing skills
• Opportunity to go out in the field with crews to observe news gathering in the field
• Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Enrollment at accredited university as sophomore or above and in good academic standing
• Ability to receive course credit for internship program
• Be available to work June-August 2024 (specific dates TBD)
• Be able to relocate to the market, if necessary

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• Strong desire to learn and succeed in the industry
• Ability to work as part of a team

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Normal work environment, with a mix of office and field work
