This co-op will be located in the Chicago area. The selected co-op will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the manager's in-office schedule. NetherRealm Studios, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks a Software Engineering Co-op to join the engineering team behind the Mortal Kombat and Injustice Franchises.Your Role Accountabilities
As a Software Engineering Intern Co-op for our game team, you'll be given an opportunity to explore a wide range of real-world programming tasks while contributing to the development of a AAA-quality Console game. You'll work with a team of talented industry veterans on tasks ranging from creating tools to improve productivity, to helping with implementation of gameplay features.
Our program is designed to expose you to some of the challenges we encounter, and allow you to take part in implementing solutions to those challenges, while working in a collaborative team environment. You'll work closely with Gameplay team members, art, design and quality assurance to implement game features, debug tools, automated tests and fix bugs.
Qualifications & Experience
• Excellent C/C++ programming skills. We are looking for people with a good understanding of the language, and an appreciation for object-oriented architecture.
• Microsoft Visual C++ development environment
• A passion for video game technology and gameplay mechanics.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers and content creators to develop robust and fun game-play
• Creative, results-oriented, self-motivated, resourceful problem-solver.
• Ability to work well in a team development environment with strong communication skills
• Strong desire to build industry-leading game systems
• Familiarity with the Unreal Engine 4 is a plus (Not Required).
• Must be actively enrolled in a n accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required )
• Must be a rising Junior or Senior or Master's student (18 years or older)
• Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA) . A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.
• Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.
What to know before applying:
• The duration of the S ummer 2026 co-op program is 6 months from J une to December dependent on the student's availability based on the semester schedule.
• Co-ops will be expected to work 35- 40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity for the full duration of the program .
• Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required ; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
• A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing compensation for roles in locations where legally required. Pay Rate: $ 31 per hour USD for undergrad interns , $35 per hour USD for graduate interns .
