The Job
WB Games Inc., is looking to hire an Associate Video Editor Intern for the Avalanche Cinematics team.
The Associate Video Editor Intern is responsible for assembling the final video product as a sequence consisting of shots from the raw video footage, dialogue, sound effects and graphics. Working almost exclusively in the post-production editing suite, the editor works closely with the Director of Cinematics, Cinematic Leads, Community Managers, and game team to meet their requirements.
The Daily
• Work with cinematic team members to edit pre-rendered cinematics and in-game video content
• Conceptualize, capture and edit audio and video for Community/Marketing materials, internal/external game content videos, reference footage, and in-house video products
• Work with cinematic team to brainstorm, mock-up and create motion graphics for videos, trailers, and in-house support products.
• Provide technical support for video capturing and editing
• Research and recommend emerging technologies and tools, editing techniques, hardware and software upgrades
• Organize and maintain equipment and digital storage space
• Evaluate and select scenes in terms of entertainment value and Community/Marketing needs
• Review assembled film or edited material on screen and monitors and makes corrections
• Suggest or select music and/or sound effects
• Manage all media associated with production tools
• Provide operational and maintenance support for computer hardware and software
• Have the ability to make good editorial decisions, ensuring that the final product reflects the professionalism and high quality of work already established by the department
• Manage multiple projects at one time, determine how best to allot time to ensure that projects are completed on time while still maintaining a high level of quality
The Essentials
• 1+ years' experience or equivalent as a video/film editor
• Degree or extensive experience in Film/Video Production or Communications preferred
• Must be proficient in one or more types of non-linear editing software (Premiere, Final Cut, Media Composer, etc.) and postproduction tools (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• A thorough understanding of current codec technology
• Strong understanding of shot composition for video and screen captures and visual storytelling
• Strong understanding of signal flow and video editing technology
• Ability to take direction well and request information or ask questions when needed
• Strong understanding of how to operate console and computer games
• Passion for storytelling and movies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills and time management skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
• Ability to take feedback and creative criticism professionally, using it to refine projects
Nice to Have
• Experience in television/film production a plus
• Experience handling and using production equipment such as cameras and lights a plus
• Experience with Apple computers and Mac OS a plus
• Website management experience a plus
