Artist, Character - Returnship (Remote)

The Path Forward Return to Work program at WB Games is a 15-week paid returnship for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. The program is open to individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. If you meet these criteria, we welcome you to apply.

The Daily

WBG SD is looking for a Character Modeler, to work with the Lead Character Modeler, art team, Creative Director, engineering, design teams to bring their creations to life. Leverage your technical expertise and passion for high quality art in this exciting opportunity.
• Model and texture characters based on concept art and technical requirements
• Coordinate the creation of rig/weight-ready character models with tech artists and animators
• Work to help establish, follow, and maintain pipelines and technical requirements
• Work closely with vision holders to develop and visualize the final look of the characters
• Execute on pre-defined or self-started initiatives from ideation to completion
• Actively share knowledge within area of expertise and influence related disciplines
• Serve as an active participant in team art discussions, critiques and reviews

The Essentials
• Minimum 3+ years of experience
• Relevant 2D and 3D experience – Photoshop, Maya, ZBrush, Unity/Unreal, or similar tools
• Ability to model/sculpt characters in a variety of forms with a focus on stylized interpretations
• Ability to create high resolution character models as well as optimized, game-ready assets
• Strong understanding of anatomy, form, proportions and silhouette
• Ability to easily interpret artistic direction with or without concept art
• A clear, concise and transparent communicator - both written and verbal
• A self-motivated team-player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• An organized and responsive prioritizer, you have proven time management skills with the ability to be self-sufficient and execute quickly
• A passion for video games
• Must have portfolio link on resume
