Job Description

YOUR PURPOSE

As a Technical Designer Intern, you will collaborate with our experienced game design and development teams to bring engaging and technically sound gameplay experiences to life. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the intersection of design and technical implementation, contributing to the creation of groundbreaking games.

YOUR DAILY ADVENTURE

Game System Design
• Work closely with the design team to conceptualize, prototype, and implement various game systems and mechanics.
• Learn and understand the systems used or developed to create the features worked on.

Content Implementation
• Translate design concepts into functional gameplay elements. Implement and integrate game content, including assets and features, into the game engine.
• Learn how to and set up data for the features worked on within the Anvil editor.

Bug Identification and Resolution
• Assist in identifying and resolving technical issues and bugs, collaborating with the QA team to ensure a polished and seamless gaming experience.

Documentation
• Create and maintain comprehensive design and technical documentation for gameplay systems and features.
• Ensure that the other members involved in the features have all the necessary technical information.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with artists, animators, and sound designers to integrate assets seamlessly into the game environment.
• Learn and understand the requirements and constraints of the different job families involved in the features worked on.
• Provide team members with any needed technical support related to systems or data setup for the features worked on.
• Initiate and participate in knowledge sharing, problem solving, and technology research with other team members.
• Actively communicate all dependencies, changes and task completion to Production Manager and reporting Manager.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING
• Currently pursuing a diploma or bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
• A strong portfolio showcasing previous game design and technical work.
• Previous experience in game design or development, preferably in a technical or programming capacity.
• Ability to script and prototype game mechanics and systems.
• Strong understanding of game design principles and mechanics.
• Proficiency in using popular game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
• Understanding of the technical aspects of game engine functionalities.
• Knowledge of game development tools and pipelines.
• Understanding of graphics, physics, AI, networking, and other technical aspects of game development.
• Ability to create and iterate on game systems, levels, and features.
• Excellent problem-solving skills to address technical challenges.
• Ability to document and communicate design concepts and technical solutions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both design and engineering teams to ensure the seamless integration of design concepts into the game.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical team members and vice versa.
• Strong attention to detail to catch and address potential issues during the development process.
• A genuine passion for playing and creating games.
