Financial Planning & Analysis Intern, Game Shows – Summer 2023

PROGRAM DETAILS:

The Sony Pictures Entertainment Internship program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These seasonal, paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that allows you to build your resume, experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, valuable networking opportunities, and many educational and social opportunities. This Summer Internship is from May/June through Sept. 1st (start and end dates are flexibile based on school schedules) and all candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday in the specified location This is not a remote role. A hybrid work option may or may not be available.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Game Shows finance is responsible for financial planning & analysis for SPE's syndicated and non-syndicated game shows, including Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. This includes annual and quarterly forecast planning, creation and maintenance of show ultimates, variance analysis, and commercial support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The intern will learn about SPE's forecast cycles, assisiting with deliverables and gaining experience with our various systems and planning tools. They will assist with reconciliation and variance analysis related to ultimates and actual performnace vs. plan Finally, the intern will help us streamline and improve existing forecast processes as we continually strive to increase efficiency and accuracy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, able to swiftly grasp new concepts and tools/technologies. Problem solving is key for variance analysis and assessing the best ways to streamline/improve our processes. Familiarity with accounting rules and concepts, P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet is important, though specific knowledge related to the entertainment industry is not necessary. Experience with Excel is vital as it is one of our primary tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Moderate to advanced Excel knowledge (e.g., IF and other conditional statements, advanced lookups) is a plus.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $17/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
