Job Summary
Interns will observe the day-to-day 'back of the house' operations of the ballpark by spending time with the Vice President, PNC Park Operations, Director, Guest Experience, Ballpark Operations Manager; Manager of Security/Service Operations and Guest Relations Manager on both non-game days and game days. Interns will be expected to participate in game-related duties, as specified by the department managers, in order to fully understand the successful execution of 'back of the house' and front line procedures/staffing necessary to operate a professional sports facility. Interns may potentially assist with and/or observe daily activities in any area of Ballpark Operations.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate with Human Resources in preparing for game day employee interviews and call-backs for new hires.
• Assist in preparing for Grand Slam Training sessions and employee orientation by compiling materials, setting up the training room and scheduling employees for each session.
• Conduct inventories in the following areas, as necessary: game day staff uniforms; radios and accessories, including labeling and assisting with distribution; various signage throughout the ballpark; storage areas; equipment and others.
• Update and maintain individual game day employee files, both paper and electronic.
• Prepare and mail out monthly game day employee schedules; enter staffing requests into scheduling software.
• Organize and maintain necessary supplies in game day managers offices.
• Coordinate taking photos of all game day employees for annual yearbook.
• Perform ballpark walk-thru's, conducting checklists for various cleaning and maintenance-related issues.
• Maintain daily log and photo library of all ballpark repair projects while in-progress.
• Maintain accurate equipment and delivery inventory; order miscellaneous equipment, as necessary.
• Assist in counting promotional items upon delivery to the ballpark and inventory items returned from the entrance gates.
• Create and maintain spreadsheet for each promotion and distribution to gates.
• Assist managers with daily game day staff briefings.
• Assist with mail room duties, as necessary.
• Attend Homestand Meetings, Supplemental Event Meetings and other sessions in the areas listed above, as necessary.
• Assist with employee staffing and set-up of ancillary events, attending meetings, as necessary.
• Miscellaneous duties, as assigned by senior directors or managers, as necessary.
Requirements
• Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited institution at a junior, senior or graduate level.
• Candidates majoring in event/facilities management of sports management preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft applications and adaptability to new software preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer service experience helpful.
• Valid driver's license desired.
